New rules for the Floida Points Series!
2007

1. All Florida Points Series Events will be scored 25 deep for points. 25 points for 1st and 1 point for 25th. Any category with fewer than 25 starters will use the same system as in past years where the winner gets points equal to the number of starters.

2. All 7 Florida Cup and State Championship Races will be scored 35 places deep. The same rules apply when there are fewer than 35 starters.

3. The use of race radios with only one earpiece and with no ability to play music will be allowed in crits and Road races for any race that contains at least cat 2 riders or higher with the exception of juniors. Juniors may never use radios in any category(Jr or Sr.) male or female. No Radios or MP3 players of any sort will be allowed in Time Trials!

4. Junior riders must always use junior gears even when competing in senior categories. No exceptions. Juniors will be rolled out at every race to ensure the use of proper gearing. Please visit usacycling.org

5. FPS Points will finally have a dollar value! Top Five will be paid in the following categories. Each point earned by a top five placer will translate to 50 cents per point. Also remember that with the new extra depth of points in each race means that everybody scores more points. Once again the categories will be;
Pro,1,2
Category 3
Category 4
Masters 35+
Masters 45+
Masters 55+
Women 1-3
Women 4

Bike raceing in Florida has never been better. After winnig 7 Tour de France events, Lance Armstrong has made cycling rise in popularity among among new athletes. Lance and ex- fiancee, Grammie Award winner, Cheryl Crow became such a high profile couple during the 2005 Tour de France that the mainstream media took notice of cycling again. Not since Greg Lemond in the lat 1980's and early 1990's had bike racing enjoyed such success in the mainstream media. Magazines like Men's Health nd Outside Magazine as well as Sports Illustrated all took advantage of the height of cycling and Lance Armstrong in recent years. Tyler Hamilton also emerged into some media oulets as the american journalists serched for the sports dark side and any doping scandel within cycling. Tyler Hamilton Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation have worked for those affected by cancer and in Tyler's case other stuff.
